PART II: [Flannel Runway] Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013

So here is Part II of Flannel at MBFWA on the runway! (See Part I: Flannel Backstage here)

Flannel's presentation of their Spring/Summer 13-14 collection, entitled 'The Sheltering Sky', portrayed a romantic gypsy, with folkish embroidery and pretty translucent cotton voile and lace.
Flannel also introduced their menswear line with underlying retro sport influences combining soft linen shirts with rolled sleeves, burnt orange trousers and casual jersey sweats.
Models sauntered off in a line to a mix of naturally-found sounds and Pink Floyd on a soft felted runway leaving many with goosebumps.

PART I: [Flannel Backstage] Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013

Well I timed my move to Sydney well, I had not even been here for a week before I found myself backstage and front row at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013. I was fortunate enough to be invited backstage by the gorgeous Kristy Lawrence (Flannel designer) and take these snaps of all the backstage prep.

It was quite an organised and calm atmosphere, and the models were all fresh-faced with sponged coral lips and hair softly pulled back into half-done plaits.
Most of the prep was focused on the thigh-high, lace-up gladiator sandals and getting them threaded on volunteers before models, balancing carefully, stepped each foot into the web of laces for the final threading.
Flannel's Spring/Summer 13 collection was beautifully understated with effortless silhouettes and, as usual Kristy selected exquisite fabrics and created refined embellishments.
